Anniversary of a Different Sort

About a year ago, DH had his second (other) knee replacement, and when we returned from the hospital our dearest friends had placed these pearly tulips on the table welcoming him home. They lasted so long and were so beautiful. So--scrapped this year with little frame, and pearls that remember that day--and the year following of pain-free, living.

Digiscrappers the bubbles are done with a brush, and the frames with a stroke on a cropped photo. The little organza bow is recolored (white) from Linda Sattgast's May Premier, 2006.

Do You Remember

This layout is called "Do you Remember"
and was inspired by the song of the Honeydew's
Do You Remember When We Met?

I posted this on the anniversary of the day we
became engaged. Scrappers, I used Rina Kroes
"Love is a Gift" kit and the font was the King and Queen
Oh this is all so symbolic--ha ha!

Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you

Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you

Digiscrappers: I used Rina Kroes "Love is a Gift" kit, Jenny Binder's torn edge, Wendy Williams tutorial for "folded frames" and the font is the King and Queen.

Take the Time

I have waited almost a year to find the quotation I was looking for for this layout of designer Misty Cato and her precious little boy, 'Jamin, I took this picture of them last summer at the Sequim Lavender Scrapfest. Misty is a designer at Scrapbook-Elements, and writes the monthly e-zine "Inspired to Scrap." Here's Misty Cato Designs Blog

The photo of Misty and Jamin is extracted from one I took of them in a group. He was fussy and tired after a long day of having his picture taken again and again as he trapsed through the Lavender Fields and tagged along after a bunch of digi-scrappers. The photo I placed this picture on is one of a streamlet coming down from Mt. Rainier & hidden near Mossy Rock. So this is a composite photograph, but finally---just what I was looking for!

Journaling is in "Douglas Hand" font, and I do not know who the author of the work is.

The journaling reads:

Take the time to hold his hand

And build castles in the sand

Take the time to share his dreams

And travel through the rocky streams

Take the time to hold him near and

Tell him he has nothing to fear.

Take the time every chance you can

Before your little boy’s a man.

Elite Images

Congratulations, to our DD who is celebrating her first year of management and ownership of a Beauty Salon and Day Spa. This layout is comprised entirely of elments found in Rina Kroes "Au Naturelle" and was prepared for the January Template challenge at Scrapbook-Elements. The tag was designed by Misty Cato and she called it "Metal Essentials Tag."

The tag, and jewelry carry her motto: "Look Like Yourself, Only Better." Yes, she has had her face "done" she has on NO makeup in this picture. Imagine waking up --made up--and young again!

Chainsicles

In Western Washington many times we have rain-chains dropping from our rain gutters to the ground. These control spash during heavy rains, but today were chains robed in ice as the thawing roof water dropped and froze on its way to the ground. I thought these were so interesting. Quite a study in delicacy and frozen beauty.

It's Snowing--and She's Still Here

Photo taken by my cousin today --here in the Pacific Northwest. This amazing little hummer and her mate still come to the feeder each day. It is down to 12 degrees at night, but they seem to be surviving without freezing. Isn't this an amazing photo?

Scrapped with Jenny Binder's background paper from Scrapper's Guide January kit "Frosty Winter" Fonts I used were "flakes" and "Laine Day".

Chester

Chester's growing up---he's 14 pounds--13 inches at his shoulders, and a bulkin-0ut-Beagle Boy.
He's 6 1/2 months old, and keepiing true to his name--Chesterbrooke's Jester! The little clown is playing here with his very favorite kong toy---that hides treats inside now and then.

Snowy Sunrise

Pastelling the morning sky--the sunrise reflects off our pond and property after another frigid night during the January snowfall in Sequim. Font is Graceful Ghost, and journaling says: No Snowflake Ever Falls in the Wrong Place (author unknown). All elements are reworked and recolored, and were designed by Jenny Binder of Heirloom Scrapbooks in her Scrapper's Guide January Premier exclusive --Winter Frost.

Scrapped for a Friend

This photo was taken by a friend of the recent snowfall in her area. I have scrapped this page for her using elemenets from Jenny Binder's BEAUTIFUL Winter Frost kit. Winter Frost is the Premier Subscriber kit of the month for this month's study on gradient mapping and re-coloring found in the January 2007 Scrapper's Guide Premier subscription.

All elements in this layout are Jenny Binder's, and include lettering that's in the kit, snowflakes she made by hand-drawing them, papers, a frosty overlay, and little snowman embellishment.

Makin' Tracks

Here Chester braves his first snowfall, more than knee deep. He frolicked and tossed the snow up with his nose when he discovered it wasn't going to get in his eyes! Then he flatly made tracks around the front yard.

The font is "flakes" and the background is made by recoloring paper designed by Jenny Binder and found in her Winter Frost Premier member kit at Scrapper's Guide.

Let it Snow!

It's been snowing in Sequim for almost 24 hours and
is now accumulating pretty nicely. We are glad to be
home and not thinking about this snow and how lovely
it would NOT be to chain-up the motorhome to get
through the Siskiyous. It will be in the low teens tonight
so there will be a lot of ice after the snow quits falling.

HOME and SIX MONTHS OLD

We think this picture of Chester posing on "HIS" couch is just hilarious. He hops clear up on top of the cushions to look out the front window from a high perch, but then not being able to decide whether he wanted to be up--or down--caught him this way on his six month birthday. Notice he also has appropriated Bouncer's silver hedgehog! Beagles just never change!

OUT to the COAST

With the Siskiyous predicted possible closure, and heavy snows expected for at least 24 hours, we headed out to the Coast along the much longer, but absolutely beautiful drive. We left Redding on Hwy 122 this morning, and settled into Crescent City for the night. Tomorrow it'll be on up the coast to Florence or so--and then cut back in to I-5 for a straight shot home.

We hit some pretty heavy snow in a couple of the lower passes through the Coastal Range as we headed out to the Pacific, followed a snowplow through wet (not icy) roads on one of them. It was exquisitely beautiful, but stopping was not a good idea--and I didn't try any out the window shots of the winter wonderland before us.

We followed the Trinity River to the sea--and then north through brilliant sunshine, and misty rain and hard rain, and brilliant sunshine up to Crescent City where we are right along side the Bay with a beautiful view.

These photos are from Trinidad Head, CA where we stopped for lunch. They are not scrapped, just shared pictures. The top one is titled---Waiting for the Season--it is a photo of the crab-pots and the crabbing-floats for the commercial crabbers that work out of the northern harbors of California.
The second one is a view from the top of Trinidad Head looking down on the commercial floats and seamount area of the bay.
The third one is of the seagulls hunkered down at sunset in Crescent Bay, just south of Crescent City, CA, and it is this view that we have out of the front of the motorhome from this R.V. park where we are staying tonight.

Enjoy!

Paths of Ancients

This cube shows highways and pathways within Valley of the Fire State Park. The image on top is by Mouse's Tank. Named for a renegade Indian who used to hideout here in the 1890's. It is a natural basin in the rock where water collects. The other photos are of the main highway into and through Valley of Fire, so this is a layout that shows the trails of both modern and ancient travelers to this area.

I am dissatisfied with the new (out of Beta) Blogger and the display of this image. I will work on this to find out why it is not posting it in an acceptable viewing resolution.

Valley of Fire State Park, NV

This is my title page for my Valley of Fire album prints. The font here is Palace Script. For continuity in my pages, I should probably have matched the fonts and used Mazurka here, but I wanted a little bolder focus over the background image of the highway winding through the The Valley of Fire. This is created with no modification with Misty Cato's December Template. I didn't get it done in time to share at Scrapbook-Elements, but it is a good template for multiple image display or for blocked pages, and I know I'll use it again.

The Mojave Sentinel

This beautiful falcon surveys his territory from his rocky perch above Valley of the Fire State Park. I used Mazurka font, and a recolored paper (#7) from Rina Kroes beautiful and versatile kit "Au Naturelle" available at Scrapbook Elements.
