Our Sun City Book

As we wait anxiously for the start of construction on our new home in Mesquite, Nevada, we are enjoying the amenities there, and getting acquainted with all there is to do and know about here. This layout is done with R.Kroes Rawhide Princess elements, and the book was made with an amazing action created by Panosfx. The photo is from the sales office, looking across the "canyon" to the part of Sun City where our home will be built. These are fun pages of our lives to turn, and I hope you enjoy this layout ---and the pages "in the book as well".

Tales of the Virgin River Valley

Elements designed by Sandy Phillips in her Fall Flurry kit (DigitalDesignDen) for this layout. The book was created using Panosfx actions (very slightly modified) in Photoshop CS3.

Life' is One Big Road--With lots of signs.

“Life is one big road with lots of signs.
So when you are riding through the ruts,
don't complicate your mind.
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy.
Don't bury your thoughts,
put your vision to reality.

Beautiful Autumn

This beautiful autumn photo was taken by my Sister on her recent "Quest for the Gold" drive she took along some of the Highways of New Mexico and Colorado. I loved this photo and couldn't wait to scrap it for her.

Just Hangin Out

Oct 20th there was a block party pot-luck hamburger fry at the Resort where we are wintering in Mesquite, NV. We met another couple building in Sun City like we are, and whose house will be done the same week ours will be (Next March) Had a wonderful time and met about 40 people we'd never seen before in our lives!

The Mesa (Grande)

This is the view of part of a long --long---mesa across the canyon from the Sales Center area of the new Sun City where we are building our new home. This was my first 'off my crutches' photo yesterday!

Bkg is Misty Cato's Pumpkin Time paper, and I've used the eyelet, tag and papers from Desert Flower with Kokopeli from Mesa kit designed by Jeri Ingalls in her Destinations: Canyons CD Template by Katherine MHire.

OH to the Wild Rose

“For so work the honey-bees, creatures that by a rule in nature teach the act of order to a peopled kingdom.”
William Shakespeare

This layout is a photo I took in Sitka in 2006, (these flowers were as big as saucers, and this was one of my favorites)

I made my ribbon cluster out of a selection I made in a leaf on the photo.

I used a part of Robyn Littlejohn's background paper #6 for the background from Floral Celebration and altered and recolored frames from Lie Fhung's kit Compassionette.

The font I chose was Ville de Geneva ES

Juneau Alaska

This unforgettable adventure up to the top of Mt. Roberts begins at the cruise ship dock in downtown Juneau where you board a tramcar adorned in colorful Tlingit artwork that provides an exhilarating ride. Up you go through the Southeast Alaska rainforest to the 1800 foot level of Mount Roberts. This was one one of the most expansive and beautiful views I had during our entire trip to Alaska. This day you could see from the Chilkat Mountains to the north, down the Gastineau Channel to the lands and waterways of the south, west to Douglas Island, and east into Silver Bow Basin where gold was discovered near the head of Gold Creek in 1880.

I have been dying to get back into some of the photos from my HS Reunion Cruise, summer 2006,--hope to do some more with those photos, and those good times.

I used Robyn Littlejohn's kit Floral Celebrations from October, 2007 Premier at Scrapper's Guide for this page.

Duck Duck!

Today was Chester's lucky day--not only did he get a new toy--which kept flying off the couch and he'd catch it by the foot (hilarious), but he also got a new squeakie jack, and a fence (a new dog run area) behind the motorhome! Now just what fun is a new toy if it keeps flying away from you? We went to St. George to PetCo and to Costco---oh it was BEAUTIFUL up through the Virgin River Canyon today! No camera--no pictures this trip!

Font-blackjack, and all elements by Nancy Marti found in her kit Falling Leaves at Digital Design Den.

The Virgin River Area, S Nevada

Journaling (Ariel) on the Western Cowboy!!!---"Here, the land speaks with a voice of inspiration. The native beauty of rolling hills, statuesque mountains, and indigenous landscapes showcase a welcoming sense of place. Guided by a sensitive vision, the forms of nature harmoniously blend into vibrant lifescapes, creating a new community that is signature in style, robust in spirit, tranquil, and beautiful in nature and lifestyle. OUR NEW HOME" Borrowed from advertising brochures at Del Webb's new Sun City Mesquite for my layout!

The Community Recreation Center

Today Rog got to go on a behind the construction zone boundaries to preview the incredible new Recreation Center in the new Del Webb Sun City, Mesquite where we are building our new home.

I used designer Rina Kroes "Rawhide Princess" elements for this layout, the Bleeding Cowboy font for the Title, and Caslon Pro for the journaling which reads:

October 6, 2007 there was a VIP Hard-Hat tour of the 30,550 square foot, state-of-the-art health, fitness, indoor and outdoor pools, spas, tennis basketball, pickle ball, billiards, and 18 hole putting green. There are dozens of craft and special activities meeting rooms, ballrooms and party rooms. Scheduled to open in November, this enormous central facility is setting about to be the place to indulge (to the max) in anything you desire.

Chester's 15months Old Today

This is our Beagle Puppy Chester the Jester on his fifteen-month birthday, with his fav bone (and pose!)

I used Misty Cato's "Shabby Sunroom" bow, and papers and elements from Tracy Monet's "Sparkle Realm" to work with this template inspired by Mikki Livanos. The font I chose for titling was: BatikDayakFont (and it didn't work very well) and the journaling is in Black Jack

Beep Beep!

We visited the Models in Sun City Mesquite again and ordered some upgrades to our new
home. While we were checking things out, this little roadrunner on the patio was fiercely
attacking the invader of his territory--His own threatening shadow in the sliding
glass door! We watched him repeatedly attack over and over. Pretty Funny!

I used Betty's Hand font for the journaling, and Bleeding Cowboys for the "beep" "beep." The paper and the background are designed by Rina Kroes in her Rawhide Princess kit available at Scrapbook-Elements.

The Guardian of the foot

Sometimes Chester takes on the responsibility of guarding my broken foot--especially against those terribly scary crutches. Chester is now 15 months old, and is getting used to his new home in the desert.

Papers and elements are by Karen Aicken and R.Davis in "Artistic Fall" Collect A kit at E-scape and Scrap. The font I used is Pristina
