Wind Machines

I love the wind farms near Palm Springs. Last year I did a big shot of hundreds of them--along the I-10 freeway, but this year, just a row of the sentinels as we left Palm Springs before 7:00 in the morning.
The generators in each of the heads of these wind machines is the size of a Volkswagen, yet they turn as though they were feathers. This photo is at first light, and just a hint of pink as the sun rises shows against the blades.
Spa Spa OHH LA LA

We stopped to investigate the company we wanted to deal with as we begin the design and landscaping phase for our backyard--and the built-ins we're going to have in our new home.
This was my Christmas Present! It has trek decking and stone face work, and it is gorgeous! Will be set in a desert-scaped back yard, with Nevada grass coming up to it! Nevada grass is FAKE, and unbelievably realistic. These pictures were taken in the showroom in Las Vegas for Creative Spas.

NINE years Old!

AND nothing's more fun than being NINE! Especially when you can take 15 friends to a Pump It UP Zone--Birthday party--extraordinare! The party goers bounced, jumped, boxed, danced, shot baskets, slid, and ran obstacle courses at a fantastic birthday party for DGD on December 22nd. If you've never heard of these interactive inflatable play structures, you might see if there's one in your area HERE

A little Prissent

My last little Prissent for you--this ornament is made using several Photoshop filters, including polar coordinates, spherize, lens flares, and such. It is made from a crop of JUST the rims on the wheels of my car----with the "background" the black tire. I hope you enjoy these little ornaments as much as I've enjoyed making and sharing them. Here's the 4shared link for you.
The reflection of the "window" was originally designed by Linda Sattgast, but is modified on this ornament.
Merry Christmas from Pssequimages and Prissequite Images!

Concrete--and!

Here's our POUR STORY! They started the pour at exactly 7:00--crews arrived about 20 till. We took out doughnuts and orange juice.
This cement contractor is out of Las Vegas, and the crew come and go each day FROM Las Vegas. The batch plant is here in Mesquite! So these are the four pages that tell this tale. By 10:30 the pour was done, and all the polishing was done by 3:00. They will pour the patio and the garage flooring tomorrow, but not doing it all at once makes it possible for them to work the stem walls and the main slab more efficiently. I was too late to get a picture of them running the buffer--but so what--it's a beautiful pour and we're very satisfied--and we have our Slab and foundation more than 50 yards of concrete later!
DH went back while I was teaching this morning to watch the rest of the skreet, and float work--and one of the young Mexicans working on removing the forms next door (part of this same company) just sat down and had a majorly heart attack. So glad that DH was there and was able to get the ambulance up there; he did not pass out, so didn't have to do CPR on him, but he was in a bigtime world of hurt.
We've been concerned all d ay--He's a 27 year old with a family history of heart trouble apparently, three little kids and wife in Las Vegas. They took him to the hospital which is just a mile or two down the road from the jobsite (we pass it on the way there)----------and when we asked about him a few minutes ago. His friend said that they were taking him home in a few minutes--that he'd be there. I was SO glad that DH was there to speak to emergency services personnel (because this crew doesn't speak much English--only one of them!).So that was a terrifying thing to see happen, and we are very thankful that he's apparently going to be all right. These are industrious and grateful hard working guys with very good jobs, and their workmanship was just so proud and well done. How scary is that! Our hearts go out to this little family tonight, and we pray for his safe and uneventful recovery. 27's just TOO YOUNG for a heart attack!

So, I did four scrapbook pages about today, then stuck them together as one. In the background of top left is the 7:00 sunrise this morning---it was GORGEOUS across the Bunkerville Mountains across the Virgin Valley from Sun City.
On the right is a photo of the TWO 10 yard cement trucks pouring their concrete loads into the pumper, then the big boom stretching wherever it needs to, to bring the flexible tube to the area of the pour where it is impacting and pulsating out of the limber tube. Lower image of that page is the main concrete guy placing the concrete where he wants it, with his helper moving it into the channels and the forms so it is just like molding with sticky clay.
Lower left is the pump-boom during the pour from the corner---and the back of the lot over two different trucks (I'm probably going to change that picture, because it's so much like another one I used)
And lower right shows the core samplers taken from various areas of the pour to check everything the engineers need to know to assure the pour is a good one and meets the quality standards set up by Pulte Builders AND by Del Webb. (And, they are toughies)

Underway on Wagon Trail

In addition to the foundation footings, the ground plumbing and water supply piping is in place and awaits inspection before it is covered and prepared for the pouring of concrete for our new house. In these shots DH takes the first real measurements we can count on, and charts the locations of soon to be buried plumbing. (fonts: abused pencil and vrinda.)
Winter Blues

This LO uses Winter Wonderland designs by Gloria ValVerde, Fotosusu and Fabella's in their pieces of the Winter Wonderland kit at the World Scrapping Tour I used glitter brushes by Linda Sattgast for the borders, found in her December Premier featured kit. The photo is of the area behind our former home in Sequim taken by my dear friend and neighbor, NP.

Looking Forward to Christmas

Present wrapping, cookie baking, shopping and writing notes secrets and happy dreams......DGD is looking forward to all the excitement of the holidays at her house. I didn't know where this layout was going until it was done, and that was part of the fun of it.
Through the eyes of a child, the magic of Christmas is upon us once again. We're looking forward to being there! Most of the page is made with Sweet Made's new kit "Sparkle" The Card to Santa reads: The Spirit of Christmas in the font: Betty's Hand.
Christmas is in my heart all year round, & I have been a very good girl this yearI hope you’ll stop--I have my recipe ready for your cookies, and they’ll be ready soon. Lve GK

Safety

I was working on a photo of DH for his avatar---and got carried away--after I was finished with the avatar, I opened first this folder and then that, and just couldn't stop working with SweetMade's fantastic La Bodega kit. Here's how it turned out. Font is Brush Script, and the text (shared with me by my sister) reads:
There's one place where we both can turn when things don't go our way,
Or when we're tired from the cares we face from day to day.
A place where we know everything will somehow be okay--
Within the safety of each other's arms
And that's because the love we share has deepened as it's grown,
And brought us joy that's so much more than we had ever known
For together we're much stronger than we each could be alone
Within the safety of each other's arms.

Prissents JUST FOR YOU!

Here's a little Prissent for you dear friends and fellow scrappers who stop in to see what we are up to. I have created some pretty little boxes for you do download and print. (Set your printer for landscape, and they'll print just fine on 8.5 x11 paper.)
Cut on the solid lines, fold on the dotted lines, glue and enjoy putting little trinkets or tiny gifts in them. Just a trifle---and a small thank you to YOU from Priss.
Here's the link to your little Prissent zip file. The little boxes are made with papers and embellishments from the designers at the Digital Craft Cottage, the Digital Design Den and SweetMade A template designed by Laura Boetto is in the zip if you'd like to make some little gift boxes of your own.
May you have a most wonderful Holiday Season and may everything be Great in 2008 for you.

Sun City Christmas Party

Today new owners met each other, many for the first time, at a lovely Holiday Party with scrumptious food, and the Virgin Valley Show Choir presenting lots of Christmas songs. The Recreation Center decorations are both exquisite and whimsical---and a great time was had--by all! Today the plumbing trenches were dug on our lot, and we are soon to be on our way with forming and the actual start of construction.

GroundBreaking

Today we watched as the Pulte/Del Webb Builders' first crew trenched our lot for the foundation's footings, and as they carefully measured, marked and scaled the layout for the ground plumbing.
Digiscrappers, I used a kit designed by Laura Boetto at the Digital Craft Cottage for this layout, and the font I chose was Felix titling. For a larger view, click the photo.
GROUNDBREAKING

Today they trenched the footings and marked our property for the plumbing. Ground's broken and we're underway!
