The NEW Scooter

We were looking for a 4 wheeled scooter (not just a motorized wheelchair) that is light enough for me to manage and portable enough to use it easily.  We found Golden's BuzzAround Carry-On Scooter. It supports up to 300 pounds and zips around on relatively flat and smooth surfaces.  It's not as promising on inclines but it does move up and down a 15 degree ramp quite well.  The ease of tilt-up and roll into the car is amazing.  I never have to lift any dead weight putting it into or taking it out of the car.  It has a "kickstand" so it can stand on end by itself for storage (or putting into a cabin closet on a cruise ship)-- NOT in the plans, though!

We took our three wheeled scooters on vacation several summers.  See pictures on the Astoria Boardwalk and Brewery Day. from 2021 of those.  They were not portable or collapsible and we had to pull a trailer with them. Great when we COULD!--No in and out of hotels with more than one on those trips--their only limitation. AND they were less stable on turns.

We've had other scooters too but as the technology advances --so does our inability to walk, so here's how we BUZZ AROUND now.

Happy Birthday Butterfly Girl

Inside message (left) reads:

A powerful beacon of growth and new beginnings, the butterfly signifies the power of transformation and the incredible feats we can achieve when we trust ourselves. We all have the ability to listen to our innate wisdom, guide ourselves through difficult times, and emerge better and stronger than before.  Kathy has loved butterflies and their beauty and significance since she was a toddler. Font is Alex Brush.  Butterfly cup is  AI generated.

The inside message (right) reads:

Sixty One

Happy Birthday to
our darling Kathy
May your journey ahead be filled with
Good health,
Love
 Kindness,
Compassion,
and the fulfillment of all your dreams.
Special love to our  butterfly Lizbutt

Happy Father's Day Roger

Poem Reads

In an acrylic embrace, may you find solace.
A walk-in tub, where worries gently fade.
May the water’s warmth cradle your weary bones,
As if time itself slows within its walls.

The faucet will whisper secrets to the steam
And Bubbles dance a waltz of liquid dreams.
You’ll sink into the depths, a tranquil pool,
Where life’s cacophony becomes just a lull.

May walls so cool and smooth support your back
As lavender scents weave through the air.
Close your eyes and drift—weightless and serene.
Afloat in reverie, free from every care.

The faucet’s gentle song’s a lullaby
Echoing off the walls- a soft refrain.
And as the water cradles you, you sigh,
Releasing tension, easing every pain.

So here you rest, embraced by comfort,
A walk-in-tub is your sanctuary of peace.
In this quiet haven, may time stand still
And all that matters—be sweetly released.

Flag Day 2024

Oh! say can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

The Rainbow Bridge has its newest addition--June 13, 2024

Buck Beagle 2010 to 2024

Today Buck went to the Rainbow Bridge anxious to join Aufie, Boppy, Bitsy, Bouncer, Chester, and Dolly Beagles at their Beagle Playground just this side of Heaven.  And he'll join Troubles, Hans, and our other now gone pals once more.
He came to us as a rescue puppy from the loving folks at the Mesquite Animal Shelter. We have roared at his blue ball catching and chasing, his pre-dinner shows, his frequent relocation of property (bed dragging) and of course his beloved hedgehogs and rabbit toys that he's tossed and sucked to extinction lovingly.

Buckie's gone from our lives for now, but never absent from our hearts.
Rest in Peace and Pain Free now, little pal.

Andrew and Georgia

Andrew and Georgia came for a quick visit before they headed to this year's festivities at the EDC in Las Vegas.  They looked great, and it was SO wonderful to see them.  They'll hurry home (with 150,000 other people who attended the Carnival)--- for the opening of Summer School for Georgia at Loyola on Monday.

Mother's Day

Mommie and Me---in '43

You will find no better best friend than your mother in this world!
She knew you better than anyone ever has!
Our mothers have been gone 37 years, and neither of us will ever know
anyone again like Portia and Lois

Thank you Kathy for these beautiful Mother's Day Flowers

Red Hat Reunion Luncheon

Six Sun City Sunbreros (Janice, Ellie, Patsy, Barb, Sharon and I)--joined ladies from two other Red Hat Chapters in Mesquite for a Red Hatters Reunion.  The Classy Chicks, and my Chapter the SCM Sunbreros, are both inactive now, but Queen Lady Laurie's RED HAT CHILI MAMAS are busy and on the go all the time.
The Luncheon was DELICIOUS--held at The Worden on April 28th.
And of course---We all STILL have a red hat or two just brimming with memories of 15 years of   crazy fun.  We went inactive after Covid.
Here are just a FEW of the SUNBRERO HOOTS

Mesquite Republican Women----Spring Festival Bake Sale Booth

I was Chairman for the Bake Sale Booth at the MRW Spring Festival this year! And what a GREAT time we had. WONDERFUL WONDERFUL goodies enjoyed by hundreds of people who stopped for a morsel of magic.

To the sixteen bakers who shared such wonderful confections

And to the fantastic teams throughout the day from setup to closing who manned the booth and made the sales. Recognizing and APPLAUDING Kathy and Al, Linda, Fran, Dee Anne, Sherrie, Donna, Pam and Von, and Kitty.  In the photo above are Linda S and Al getting the booth ready at 8 in the morning,--and they were right there too, at 4:15 to tear it down. Special thanks, too for Al and Kathy's help the past weeks as we planned this year's Bake Sale.  At the end of the day, they brought the remaining unsold items back to my house, and took care of the heavy tables, and chairs and things I couldn't manage.  After the sale, Kathy and I took trays of goodies to the MFD. The event Chairman took trays to the MPD after the sale. We thank our community's first responders.

Thank you to the community of  Mesquite, NV and to ALL the more than FIFTY vendors in our town who shared their wares, their talent and their passions with us at the Spring Festival 2024.  It was indeed a very GRAND EVENT, with perfect weather, wonderful music throughout the day, and treasures abounding....as well as, and very importantly...... candidates for LOCAL, REGIONAL, STATE and FEDERAL offices coming up to the Nevada Primaries on JUNE ELEVENTH.

Our SIXTY FOURTH

Wow---WHERE HAVE THE YEARS GONE.  Sixty Four years ago we were married  in Las Vegas at the Little Church of the West. 14 years ago we celebrated our Fiftieth at the same place, same time of day, and same minister, and today on our 64th, we celebrated quietly at dinner with Steak Diane, and Veal Marsala at Katherines!

At Dinner At Katherines

This is the card I made for him, inside (below) is 1 Corinthians 13:4 most often quoted Scripture.
